Flinty’s Birthday

For several years now the FFNRC has been associated with Flin Flon’s annual “Flinty’s Birthday” celebrations, held the 3rd weekend in August on the Station Museum grounds. These commemorate “Flintabettey Flonatin”, the intrepid submariner and subterranean explorer that Flin Flon is named for. We have partnered with the the Flinty’s Birthday Committee and the Flin Flon Station Museum to hold our annual community events in conjunction with Flinty’s Birthday. Both our World Bubble Days and Flin Flon Dinosaur Races have benefited from being able to share in the crowds and publicity generated for Flinty’s Birthday. We have also supported several “Flinty’s Birthday” related projects through the Small Grants program. A typical Flinty’s Birthday features a wide range of children’s activities, including face painting, a teddy bear clinic, a fish pond, free beef on a bun, and performances by the Flin Flon Community Band. There is also always birthday cake for all and an appearance by Flintabettey Flonatin himself. Since the FFNRC got involved celebrations have also included World Bubble Day events, dinosaur races, a dinosaur hunt, and since last year, complimentary sno-cones.
